Three FMX's Delivered

Three FMX's Delivered

2009 is now well underway, and so are FMX deliveries.  In late December, we delivered the first Redbird FMX, quickly followed by two more deliveries in January. The first FMX went to Austin Academy of Aviation, a Cessna Pilot Center  located at Austin Bergstrom International Airport, in Austin, TX.  Equipped as a C172 glass, the FMX allows Austin Academy of Aviation to train their students to fly a G1000 before they are cleared to fly the aircraft.  For more information about Austin Academy of Aviation,

    Crosswind Landing Excellence

    Crosswind Landing Excellence

It is possible to land an airplane in a crosswind without using very good technique and still not damage anything.  However, this article is about excellence in this maneuver and not just getting by.  No matter what hardware you fly, a good understanding of crosswind landing concepts and techniques is important.

Crosswind landing skill is mostly obtained through trail and error.  There are plenty of trials.  Crosswinds are the number one cause of weather related accidents every year.

Let’s jump straight to the essence of crosswind landing excellence.

We are proud to announce that we have received FAA certification for our FMX and SD flight simulators. Both devices are now certified as Advanced Aviation Training Devices making the FMX the first full motion AATD, that is priced at less than $60,000. This certification means that a pilot may now log flight experience in a Redbird simulator toward new certifications and instrument proficiency.
